Amerigo Icono — Series 03

1924

Vintage Athletic Study

1924 is a developing series from Amerigo Icono studying the visual language of early American athletic wear — rowing layers, training garments, collegiate knits, lace-up collars, ribbed cotton, warm cream tones, and oxblood details shaped by movement, repetition, and restraint.

Before performance became branding.

1924 is not nostalgia for costume. It is a return to the physical honesty of athletic garments before sport became spectacle — when fabric, repetition, sweat, and repair shaped the object over time.

The series begins with cotton: rib knits, heavyweight terry, athletic trims, and garments that feel close to the body without becoming technical or synthetic.

The aim is not to recreate the past exactly. The aim is to study what endured: proportion, utility, restraint, and the quiet dignity of garments built for movement.

Cotton First

1924 begins with the belief that the garment should breathe, soften, age, and carry the memory of use.

Athletic Restraint

Rowing, boxing, tennis, training, and leisure influence the silhouettes without turning them into costume.

Objects Over Volume

Each piece is developed slowly as an object with purpose, not as inventory for speed.

Material direction.

The first 1924 studies are being developed around 100% cotton whenever possible — not only outer garments, but eventually the layers closest to the body: tanks, ribs, undergarments, warmups, and athletic basics.

The goal is a complete material language: cream cotton, heather oat rib, oxblood accents, lace-up structure, and garments that feel archival without pretending to be antique.

  • 400 GSM cotton rib studies
  • Heavyweight athletic cottons
  • Lace-up collars and reinforced plackets
  • Oxblood red / cream / heather oat palette
  • Undergarments as part of the house language
Rib

Used not only as trim, but as identity — vertical texture, softness, memory, and movement.

Terry

For warmup objects, athletic leisure, and heavier garments that carry structure without stiffness.

Trim

Oxblood, cream, and aged athletic tones used with restraint, never decoration for its own sake.

The first object is still becoming.

The first 1924 garment is being developed as a lace-up athletic sweater — a study in cotton rib, proportion, collar structure, and vintage athletic utility.

Until the first completed object is released, this page will serve as a working study: a record of fabric decisions, silhouette direction, and the formation of a new Amerigo Icono series.

Amerigo Icono

Built slowly. Worn honestly.

1924 is a study in athletic memory — not mass production, not fast fashion, not imitation. A series of cotton objects developed for movement, restraint, and longevity.
